Can anybody recommend a good attorney in the DC metro area, I am trying to start the GC process and as I understand the LC (EB3 ROW) portion is very important and challenging currently.
I've heard of Murthy Law Firm and some other big name (in DC).
I've also looked at Ryan & Taylor based in Reisterstown, MD (same as Murthy).

Hello friends,
wanted to see the timeline of EAD renewals currently..I have a EAD renewal receipt notice date of June 18th......was wondering how many days is TX taking to approve the notice....
Did aanyone around June 15 -June 20th get any approval yet?
My wife's EAD renewal receipt notice date is June 19th - close to yours. Also at TX.
Lets keep each other informed on any developments.
As per USCIS website, the processing time at TX service center is 3 months for EAD.
I hope its sooner!

I am in the same situation...my 6th yr H1 expires on Feb 2008. I am really hoping that I will get an EAD before my H1 expiration. But if I dont get an EAD on time then I will apply for recapturing my time outside USA. I travel overseas a lot on business so basically i will need about 3months of time recaptured to meet the 1 yr prior labor approval for H1 extension. My PD is april 2007. Hope this helps and works out for you.
BTW..i recieved my receipt notices for EAD,485 and AP last week.

My labor and 140 are approved under EB3 with priority date May 2003. Since Green Card is for future employment can I port my date to EB2 with another company and
a. Not tell my current employer and continue with my job

I am in a worst scenario , just changed a job couple of months ago. I have labor and I-140 approved from Company A. I have even paid $6000 to company A to sponsor my GC and $5500 for a visa transfer. After joining company B i didn't start labor again. Begging Company A to give an employement letter , they have even cancelled my H1b visa so I can't join them back unless i pay H1b visa transfer fee and a pay-cut. Wondering if it is even worth it ?

I'm on H1 and My spouse is on H4 (came on H4 in Dec 2003)
We are both Canadian PR's. I worked out a deal with my US based to company so that I work in Canada and come to USA occasionally.
Here are a few questions regd my spouse
Planning to apply for H1 in April 2007, Once H1 is approved
-Can we use automatic revalidation to enter USA without getting our visa's stamped. My h1 expired in 2006 and my spouse;s H4 expired in 2006.
(remember my spouse is applying for H1 )
-How safe it is FrequENTLY travel to Canada and back
-How safe it is to stay in Canada for duration of 3-6 months and come back to USA
-Once my spouse gets the H1 approved, should he move to H1 immediatly or can continue on H4?
-stamping of H1 (first stamping for H1 in Canada) after conversion from H4

Hi,
I know your time is very precious and not to waste.
My issue is - I came to US as a programmar/analyst in Aug' 2005 with my B.Commerce (3years) and Master of Computer Applications (completed my 3years masters by 2003) in India. My H1 company in March'2008 applied for PERM/I 140 through EB3 (as a professional) recently they came back to me that my I140 got denied because of educational evaluation comparison difference and need to reapply again through a new lawyer as EB3 - unskilled - system support engineer.
Is this really require to go through the new lawyer to restart the GC process? - and this costs me to lose my priority date - almost 2 years
If yes, how are the chances to get the perm/I140 if I reapply through the same H1 company ?
remember that I have to go for H1 extension by Aug'10 ( as I complete 5 years on my H1).
Kindly suggest.

I had a 10 AM appointment a couple of weeks ago and I went there at 9:30 AM and the waiting room was almost full.....But by 11 AM, there were very few people left and no new people coming in..So I was wondering they dont schedule appointments after 11 AM...Maybe they have appointments afternoon...So 11 AM should be a good time to go in....I am sure there will be a lot of people in the morning hours....

But Bush has been saying for months that the country's immigration problems cannot be solved just by tightening border security. U.S. employers need cheap foreign labor, and immigrants will continue to sneak in to take the jobs, Bush said, so Congress should authorize temporary work permits to match those workers with low-paying jobs that other Americans don't want. He also wanted to give citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants already in the United States.
But Republicans in Congress took a tougher stance against immigration and have refused to give Bush the more comprehensive legislation he wanted.
"We'll continue to work with Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform that secures this border, upholds the laws and honors our nation's proud heritage as a land of immigrants," Bush said just before putting his pen to the bill's paper.

Hope your issue is already resolved. But a friend of mine, his PERM application was also denied. But they filed an Appeal and immediately, next day, they applied for his H1-B extension (7th yr) and it got approved.

Iam on L2 and working on my EAD which is expiring on april 29 th 2011.
I have applied for H1 in the 2010 quota but due to my employers mistake i got a rejection on that.
we are trying to reappeal to USCIS but iam not sure if its going to work.
Suppose i have a project and apply again for 2011 quota , can i still continue working even if my EAD expires.
They say that we actually move to H1 on October , so if i apply before end of April through premium processing and get an approval notice before October can i continue working or start work right away or do i have to wait till October.
Is there a possibility to start working immediately as soon as my H1 gets approved or do we have to wait until October in any case.

You have to wait until 1st October. Even though your H1 gets approved faster with Premium Processing, your start date is still 1st October. You will have to continue to maintain your current immigration status (L2) till Sep 30th. On October 1st, your status will automatically change to H1 and L2 becomes invalid.
Since you get the benefit of EAD with L2, you can renew your EAD and keep working till Sep 30th. Your EAD along with your L2 will become invalid automatically on 1st October since your H1 (if approved) will take effect. (Assuming your employer files a H1 Change of Status petition and not a H1 Consular processing petition)

Did they ask you to provide I693(Medical) and I684(Affidavit of Support) during your last interview? I believed I had submitted I693 when I applied I485 and I684 is for family-based immigration. Is this right?
